About the programme

Art and Technology (ArT) is for students with an urge to create and to work with the interactive field between art and technology. ArT will challenge you to develop and demonstrate your artistic creativity and to design large scale installations and events in cross-disciplinary teams.

Your field of activity will be the artistic and design possibilities that are present in contemporary materials, graphics, audio, physical design and new media. This study programme will not only give you training for a future job within one of the world

The guiding vision behind the programme is to establish a creative learning environment within which artistic exercise is brought into fruitful interaction with know-how concerning the creation of products and phenomena with a experiential potential. Project work within the programme emphasises honing the ability to create interactive installations and performative spaces. The programme therefore contains many technological qualifications and a high degree of knowledge about the interplay between the work and its audience.

The Art & Technology program offers an international bachelor degree. It seeks to attract creative students from all over the world and to create an international learning environment with the best teachers in the fields of art, design, media and technology. The program is therefore offered in English.

Having completed the bachelor programme, you will have achieved professional qualifications making you capable of carrying out installation art and design projects on various scales, and you will have gained specific technical competence within technology, design methodology and communication. This enables you:

  • to work systematically and creatively with solutions to experience related challenges and to convert technical, functional, environmental and aesthetic demands into the design of products, services and installations of high entertainment, technical and aesthetic quality;
  • to apply the basic working methods of development and design as an artistic discipline and to apply the basic theories, methodologies and principles of engineering in the working processes;
  • to communicate professionally; and
  • to maintain and enhance your artistic and technical qualifications and to acquire competences that enable you to continue your studies by enrolling in a master programme in a relevant field of study.

Project work and the creative act are the focal points of the programme. Aalborg University is well-known for its characteristic form of study: Problem-oriented project work. Project work gives you the opportunity to explore major, complex problems and to supply artistic comments and design proposals. The work takes places individually as well as in groups. One or more supervisors will be attached to your project work, which is supported by theoretical courses and practical workshops. The teaching is development and research based. This means that your supervision is based on the very latest knowledge.
Each semester is made up of one major project and several minor workshops and courses. which include various theoretical subjects, the history of art and technology, understanding of Scandinavian and European societies, and study tours.

Aims

Sustainability is a keyword for modern civil engineers and this BEng course in Civil Engineering with Sustainability provides an in-depth understanding of sustainable infrastructure development.

Drawing on an impressive body of pure and applied research engineers and scientists, we will introduce you to mainstream civil engineering knowledge, ranging from geotechnical site assessment to assessing and designing structures and environmental engineering.

You will explore the role of the engineer in current and future projects, following the sustainable ‘cradle to grave’ approach called for by major institutions such as the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Professional engineers working with major clients, consultancies and contractors are involved in bringing real world experience to the programme.
